Registration and Useful Hints

WinEdt is distributed as shareware (try-before-you-buy software). The program may be used for an evaluation period of 31 days. Any further use requires a license from the author, obtained through the Registration Procedure as described below.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the licensing agreement please contact The WinEdt Team at orders@winedt.com. You can also inquire about alternative methods of ordering a license for WinEdt.

If you are seeking technical support use the e-mail: support@winedt.com and be patient because we have to deal with many such questions every day and sometimes it is impossible to keep up with the flow. Don't forget to check WinEdt's Configuration Wizard which may assist you in resolving your problem...

Privacy Statement:

The information collected by the WinEdt Team in the process of registration is private and confidential and is not and will not be made available to any other individual or organization. A database of registered users is kept for the purpose of identifying legitimate upgrade and support requests. We do not, however, send any non-solicited messages (spams) including but not limited any notifications regarding the availability of new versions of WinEdt and/ or companion tools. The Mailing List and WinEdt's Home Page are the places where interested users can obtain any such information.

You are strongly advised to take advantage of WinEdt's (31 days) trial period and see if you actually want to use this software. Note that the trial copy is fully functional and if you cannot resolve any problems with the trial version registering won't make your problems go away. Should you decide to register you'll receive the registration data (Name and a 19-digit code) by email. You should enter this data exactly as given in WinEdt's Help Register Dialog:

You don't have to reinstall WinEdt (you can keep the copy that you have tried and possibly customized during the trial period). Entering the Registration Data will suppress any registration reminders (if your registration is overdue), remove the "Unregistered Version" from WinEdt's Caption and it will reduce the size of the first panel in the Status Line.

WinEdt is not shipped on CDs and WinEdt Team does not provide support by the phone (you have to contact us by e-mail: support@winedt.com).

Useful Hints:

• On WinEdt's Downloads Page you'll find word lists (dictionaries) for many languages. You can download additional word lists and use WinEdt's Dictionary Manager to install and configure your (multi-lingual) setup. The Help in the Dictionary Manager will guide you if necessary.

• WinEdt's Modes and submodes allow you to prepare multi-lingual environment.

• WinEdt's Help has a topic on TeX and international characters which should be consulted if you want to use international characters in your TeX documents. WinEdt has translation tables which can be used if you want your sources to contain pure TeX notation for international characters...

• By default WinEdt provides a few double-shortcut schemes to enter international characters (Western ANSI code page). For example: Ctrl+" + e produces "?, Ctrl+' + e yields "?, etc... Such functionality is implemented through the "invisible" popup menus. Check WinEdt's Help for more (if you prefer a keyboard interface to GUI you may want to enable or define more double-shortcuts).

• You should definitely check the topics on Wrapping and Bookmarks in WinEdt's Help. You'll learn how to configure WinEdt to best meet your needs (the default wrapping preferences may not be what you expect).

• WinEdt's Configuration Wizard(s) contain useful and important information. Check it out!
