KaleidaGraph now for Windows and Macintosh

READING, PA, February 21, 1996 -- Synergy Software in conjunction with Abelbeck Software is proud to release the Microsoft Windows 95®, WFW 3.11, NT and Windows 3.1 compatible versions of KaleidaGraph®. KaleidaGraph is an award-winning data analysis and graphing application for the Apple Macintosh® operating system, that was initially introduced in 1988.

KaleidaGraph's unique interactive process develops accurate publication quality graphs that mathematically transform even the most complex data into attractive yet meaningful visual displays. KaleidaGraph distinguishes itself in the technical marketplace with its speed, ability to handle large data sets, robust curve fitting, and a myriad of powerful features that give the user full control over the plot.

In addition to clean and efficient design, KaleidaGraph takes full advantage of faster chip technologies and math coprocessors in calculating, curve fitting and graphing. This is a real advantage to the scientist, researcher or engineer who is manipulating larger and more complicated data sets and can see the results of each iteration immediately.

The development of KaleidaGraph for Windows compliments many successful years in the Macintosh marketplace. Windows operating system versions will be able to fully interchange data with the Macintosh version. The price of KaleidaGraph for Windows at $249.00 suggested retail reflects the same affordability as the Macintosh version.

KaleidaGraph is Accelerated for the Power Macintosh

READING, PA, July 11, 1994 -- Synergy Software in conjunction with Abelbeck Software is proud to release the Power Macintosh, "Native-Mode" version of KaleidaGraph. KaleidaGraph is an award-winning data analysis and graphing application for the Apple Macintosh® series of personal computers, that was initially introduced in 1988.

KaleidaGraph distinguishes itself in the technical marketplace with its speed, ability to handle large data sets (32000 points per column) and a myriad of powerful features used to develop accurate journal quality graphs.

As a technical productivity application, KaleidaGraph falls into that class of programs which are perfectly suited to the design and speed of the PowerPC RISC architecture. Like other applications which are computationally intensive and floating point dependent, various KaleidaGraph functions will run in native mode at least four to ten times the speed of their 68K-based counterparts.

Curve fitting, one of KaleidaGraph's many strengths, will run up to fifteen times faster depending on the size of the data set. This is a real advantage to the scientist, researcher or engineer who is manipulating larger and more complicated data sets and can see the results of each iteration almost immediately.

The retail price of KaleidaGraph will remain $249.00 and the product will contain disks to accommodate both 68K and native mode versions. Registered users already at version 3.0 will be able to order their copy of the native mode version for $20.00 plus shipping. Users below version 3.0 will pay $35.00 plus shipping, and their packages will include the documentation upgrade which was released in May of 1993.

KaleidaGraph Version 3.0 Now Shipping

READING, PA, April 29, 1993 -- Synergy Software in conjunction with Abelbeck Software is proud to release a comprehensive upgrade of KaleidaGraph, a data analysis and graphing application for the Apple Macintosh® series of personal computers, that was initially offered in February, 1988.

KaleidaGraph distinguishes itself in the technical marketplace with its speed, ability to handle large data sets (32000 points per column) and a myriad of powerful features used to develop accurate journal quality graphs. KaleidaGraph 3.0 builds on the previous version by adding a host of new capabilities in three major areas: interface simplification, System 7.x compatibility and enhanced mathematical functions .

The redesign of the KaleidaGraph interface has made the application even easier to use, and has provided more drawing tools for complete object control (copying, duplicating, grouping, aligning, and layering). An editable palette of 64 colors replaces the previous eight color model.

Updating data in a plot can now be streamlined with the addition of System 7.x support for Publish and Subscribe. Apple Event support has been added to facilitate automatic plot creation.

According to lead designer, Bill Jones, "Additional mathematical functions have enhanced KaleidaGraph's ability to mathematically transform even the most complex data into elegant but functional graphical displays." Among the new capabilities:

  • Excel files and EPSF files may now be imported directly. Flexible text file processing has always been a KaleidaGraph strength.
  • You may store up to 16 user-defined curve fits for use on a single plot and extrapolate curve fits to the axis limits. Previous support was one fit per plot.
  • 12 different formats expand the display of date or time data.
  • Perform multi-level sorts on data; this is a new enhancement for data manipulation.
  • User-selectable error bars, with independent upper and lower error types, and standard deviation support, supplement the present error bar capabilities.
  • Additional statistical functions have been added to formula entry, for increased flexibility.
  • To better support the technical community, double precision data format has been implemented.

Synergy Software is a leading publisher of Macintosh technical productivity applications in the terminal emulation/networking and data analysis/graphing application areas. Its products have been sold through a worldwide network of distributors and dealers since 1985.

VersaTerm Celebrates Tenth Anniversary

READING, PA, Jan. 4, 1995--Synergy Software is finishing out an exciting year and marking a very significant milestone this month. Our award-winning application VersaTerm has been shipping for a full ten years.

As the communications landscape has changed over the decade, the VersaTerm product line has remained on the cutting edge by anticipating the shifting environment. After starting in single-user mode with terminal emulation and general communications, the product line responded to the trend toward networked computers. A suite of TCP/IP tools, built upon support for the Apple Macintosh® Communications Toolbox, was added beginning in 1990. We have continued to support the growing TCP/IP standard by adding a single integrated application for accessing essential Internet services like mail and news. The VersaTerm products now represent a comprehensive solution for solving a wide spectrum of connectivity needs both in networked configurations and from remote sites.

In the last year our entire product line has reaped the benefits of our ten-year tradition of design excellence and dependable performance. VersaTerm won the MacWorld Editors' Choice Award in October 1993 in an evaluation with nine packages providing TCP/IP features, and followed that with a second Editors' Choice in August 1994 for Internet Exploration. VersaTilities was a finalist for the MacUser Award for Best New Communications Package in January 1994, and received a MacUser Four-Mouse Award in September 1994 as a Versatile Package of Internet Utilities. KaleidaGraph, our data analysis and graphing application, won the MacWorld World Class Award for Best Scientific-Analysis Software in August of 1994, after a four-mouse review earlier in the year.

"Considering that many technological innovations, including software, frequently experience what I would characterize as a short, boom and bust lifespan, it is very satisfying to have participated in VersaTerm's steady growth over the last ten years. It is particularly sweet to come into this tenth year with the utility and recognition levels for the program running so high," observed Barbara S. Maxwell, VP Marketing. "We are very thankful for the loyal and continued support of our users and colleagues throughout the industry, and we look forward with anticipation to the challenges of the next decade."

Synergy Software is a leading source of Macintosh terminal emulation/communications and data analysis/graphics applications. Its products have been sold through a worldwide network of distributors and dealers since 1985.
