EndNote 3.1.2 Updater for Windows
EndNote 3.1.2 is available as an update patch for people who already have EndNote 3.0 or 3.0.1 installed. The
3.1.2 update includes Add-in support for Microsoft Word 2000 and Corel WordPerfect 9. In addition, the update fixes
some bugs and adds a few minor changes to the program as described below. To use this update, you must already
have a copy of EndNote 3.0 or later installed on your system.
Notes on Running the Update Patch:
- The patch will only update the Add-in for use with Word 2000 and WordPerfect 9 if it already exists on the
computer. If you are running the update on a machine that did not previously have Word 97 or WordPerfect 8 with
a compatible EndNote Add-in, you may encounter an error stating that the "*.wll or *.dll file cannot be
opened." If this happens, you will need to run a custom installation with your EndNote CD. Check the Add-in,
click on Change and select to install the 32 bit Add-in for your corresponding word processor. Then run
the update again.
- After running the update patch, you may encounter the error "The EndNote Add-in cannot be loaded because
another copy is already active" when starting up Word 2000. This is caused because Word 2000 looks in the
Word 97 startup as well as its own for Add-ins to load. To correct this, select "Start...Find...Files or
Folders..." Search My Computer for "ENWord32.wll". You should find at least two copies, and probably
three. If you have both Word 97 and 2000 installed, delete the copy in the Word 2000 startup directory. If you
no longer have Word 97, you can delete either copy. Do not delete the copy in the EndNote directory as future
updates may require that copy of the file.
WHAT'S NEW IN ENDNOTE 3.1.2:
- EndNote 3.1.2 now includes versions of the EndNote Add-in compatible with Microsoft Word 2000 and Corel WordPerfect
9. The update also includes cumulative changes in the EndNote program since version 3.0.
WHAT WAS NEW IN ENDNOTE 3.1:
- EndNote 3.1 allows users to send search results directly from the BioMedNet
Evaluated MEDLINE service to an EndNote library. With this
functionality, you can get all the benefits of using BioMedNet's web-based search interface and instantly
transfer the search results to EndNote -- without the extra steps of saving the references to a text file and
importing them. BioMedNet is an Internet community for biological and medical researchers. Subscriptions are
free.
WHAT WAS NEW IN ENDNOTE 3.0.1:
- EndNote 3.0.1 uses HTTP/1.0 protocol instead of 0.9. This allows for better interaction with proxy servers.
If you've been unable to connect to PubMed using EndNote, this update may help you.
- Fixed problems with selecting and opening references in the library window.
- Improved importing of corporate names and URLs retrieved through remote connections.
- Fixed bug where the Term List was not being sent to the back of all application windows after a term was
inserted.
- Added OPAC to menu of Record Syntaxes. For servers that support the OPAC syntax, this allows for circulation
data to be imported. The MARC filter in the connection file must also be changed to import that line of data.
- Fixed bug where MARC records had 'NULL' characters which caused EMPTY RECORDS to be displayed in the Retrieved
References window.
- Fixed a bug where some implementations of WinSock (Trumpet 2.0) return socket errors when trying to connect
to a remote database.
- Fixed a bug where the "Edit Styles" menu was being positioned incorrectly.
- Fixed a problem with the EndNote Add-in for Microsoft Word (32-bit) that would cause a crash if the Add-in
could not identify the name used by Word to identify menu separators.
- Other small fixes were also included.
