The Festschrift in honor of Karl Jöreskog (Cudeck, Du Toit and Sörbom 2001) consists of 22 chapters on the statistical theory and methods for Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Ten of these chapters include practical applications of the SEM statistical methods to real data. This page provides a brief description of the syntax and data files for eight of these applications.
Unique file extensions are used to distinguish between the various types of files. Firstly, the extension .ls8 is used to indicate a LISREL syntax file. Secondly, the file extensions .raw and .dat are used for text files containing raw data. Thirdly, text files that contain sample covariance matrices have the extension .cov. Estimated asymptotic covariance matrices (weight matrices) are stored in binary files with an .acm extension. Finally, the extension .exe is used to indicate a self-extracting archive that contains LISREL syntax and data files.

Two-stage least squares and latent variable models: simultaneous estimation and robustness to misspecifications
Bollen (2001) demonstrate how LISREL may be used to compare existing estimation methods with new methods such as the two-stage least-squares estimation method. The self-extracting archive Chapter7.exe (68 KB) contains the corresponding LISREL syntax and data files.
Adding variables to improve fit: the effect of model size on fit assessment in LISREL
Breivik and Olsson (2001) demonstrate how LISREL may be used to investigate the effects of the number of variables on the measures of fit of confirmatory factor analysis models. The self-extracting archive Chapter9.exe (69 KB) contains the corresponding LISREL syntax and data files.
Rethinking construct reliability within latent variable systems

The analysis of nonlinear random coefficient regression models with LISREL using constraints
Du Toit & Cudeck (2001) use the nonlinear constraint facility of LISREL to demonstrate how LISREL may be used to fit nonlinear random coefficient regression models to data. The self-extracting archive Chapter13.exe (68 KB) contains the corresponding LISREL syntax and data files.
The covariance structure of a vector ARMA time series
Du Toit & Browne (2001) show how the covariance structure of a vector ARMA time series can be expressed as a LISREL model. They also illustrate how LISREL may be used to fit this covariance structure to data. The self-extracting archive Chapter14.exe (67 KB) contains the corresponding LISREL syntax and data files.
