Student editions of LISREL

Note that SSI does not provide technical support for users of the student editions of LISREL.

Restrictions:

Compared with the full editions, the student editions are restricted as follows.

• Basic statistical analyses and data manipulation is restricted to a maximum of 20 variables.
• Structural equation modeling is restricted to a maximum of 15 observed variables.
• Multilevel modeling is restricted a maximum of 15 variables.
• Generalized Linear Modeling is restricted to a maximum of 20 variables.

Windows student edition

Software

The student edition of LISREL for Windows can be installed from the single, self-extracting executable Lisrel880Student.exe.

Restriction:

It can only import ASCII, tab-delimited and comma-delimited and SPSS for Windows data files by using the "Import Data in Free Format" selection on the File menu.

Instructions:

• Download lisrel880student.exe to a temporary folder.
• Run lisrel880student.exe from the Windows Start Menu.
• Installation files are copied to and retained in the default location C:\Program Files\lisrel87s. You may change this location.
• After installation, lisrel880student.exe may be deleted from the temporary folder.

Mac student edition

Software

The installation files for the student edition of LISREL 8.7 for Mac, OS 9 and X are available in the Stuffit archive L87MacS.SIT or the Zipit archive L87MacS.ZIP.

Instructions:

• Download the Stuffit archive L87MacS.SIT or the Zipit archive L87MacS.ZIP to a temporary folder of your choice.
• Use Stuffit Expander to expand the contents of the Stuffit archive L87MacS.SIT to a temporary folder of your choice or use Zipit to extract the contents of the Zipit archive L87MacS.ZIP to a temporary folder of your choice.
• Run the Mac OS application "LISREL8.7StudentInstaller" from the temporary folder by double-clicking on the application "LISREL8.7StudentInstaller".

  Important notice:

• If you are running later versions of Mac OS X, then you may need to download a demo version of Stuffit InstallerMaker from www.stuffit.com. note that this will be necessary if your Mac OS does not recognize "LISREL8.7Installer" as an application, but as a document.

Software

The 4 applications of the student edition of LISREL 8.7 for Linux are available in the ZIP file StudentApplications.ZIP while the example, syntax and data files are provided in 11 different ZIP files.

System requirements:

• glibc 2.2.4 and higher.
• 12MB of available hard disk space.
• 32MB RAM.
• 80486DX or Pentium-compatible processor.

  Instructions:

• Use the "unzip" command to extract the contents of StudentApplications.zip to a directory of your choice.
• Use the "unzip" command to extract the contents of LS8EX.ZIP, PR2EX.ZIP, SPLEX.ZIP, MLEVELEX.ZIP, MISSEX.ZIP, MSEMEX.ZIP, MSEMEXMS.ZIP, ORDINAL.ZIP, CENSOR.ZIP, SGLIMEX.ZIP and LIS87EX to a directory(ies) of your choice.
