  Data
  • The data set forms part of the data library of the Alcohol and Drug Services Study (ADSS). The ADSS was a national study of substance abuse treatment facilities and clients. Background data and data on the substance abuse of a sample of 4541 clients were obtained. The sample was stratified by census region and within each stratum a sample was obtained for each of three facility treatment types within each of the four census regions.
  • The variables of interest are:
    • LEV2ID is the region of the client (10 different regions).
    • A2TWAO is the design weight of the client.
    • cntdiag is the number of abuse diagnoses of the client (0, 1, 2 or 3).
    • sex is the value of a dummy variable for the gender (0 for male and 1 for female) of the client.
    • mstat_r denotes the marital status (0 for never married, 1 for married, 3 for separated/divorced and 4 for single/widowed) of the client.
    • sex_mar denotes the product of sex and mstat_r.
  • The file Diagnosis.PSF in the MGLIMEX subfolder contains the responses to these statements from a sample from 4541 respondents. The first portion of Diagnosis.PSF is shown in the following PSF window.
